The building seen today was built in 1901 as the Soeurs Garde-Malades Apartment, where there had once been an outbuilding of the French Palace, reserved for the Franciscan nuns. Tomtom Suites is an oasis where elegance meets tranquility and pure history.

Located in the heart of a historic district, surrounded by Galata, Pera, Tophane and Beyoğlu, Tomtom Suites is an exceptional restoration project. Transforming an iconic apartment once been an outbuilding of the French Palace, reserved for the Franciscan nuns, Tomtom Suites is an oasis where elegance meets tranquility and history.

Our story goes back to 1850s. The building was built as the Soeurs Garde-Malades Apartment, which had been an outbuilding of the French Palace, situated upper left of our property. When the neighborhood went through a major renovation in 2000s, the building was restored being faithful to its authenticity and obtained its fascinating appearance representing iconic moments in history.

The building has witnessed various historical milestones in time. Tomtom district is home to major diplomatic and religious constitutions for more than 6 decades. Tomtom district is one of the few areas which best represents the multi-cultural and diverse identity of Istanbul. Majority of the buildings are almost preserved as they were through the end of 1800’s. Neighboring to our property are Palais de France, Palazzo di Venezia, the former French Court, The Dutch, Russian and Italian Consulates that used to be embassies in Ottoman Empire. They surround Tomtom Suites with their different architectural styles emphasizing the multicultural spirit of Istanbul. Additionally, numerous art galleries, antique stores, museums, restaurants and the new attraction spot, Galataport are just a stone’s throw away from our property.

Tomtom district has been home to major diplomatic and religious constitutions for more than 6 decades. The building was built as the Soeurs Garde-Malades Apartment, which had been an outbuilding of Palais de France, neighboring Palazzo di Venezia, the former French Court, the Dutch, Russian and Italian Consulates that used to be embassies in the Ottoman Empire.

Tomtom History 1900-2000

1900s

Neighboring Italian Consulate and French Palace, the street still keeps the main historical look and monumental structures as they were back in 1900s. During this period, the building has been home to some well-known Levantine families and senior diplomats.

Tomtom History 2000 TO THE PRESENT

2000s

When the neighborhood went through a major renovation in 2000s, the building was restored being faithful to its authenticity and obtained its fascinating appearance representing iconic moments in history. Transformed into a luxury hotel with 20 suites, the property now hosts guests from all around the world with a unique service policy and contemporary design features, combining modern comfort with the building's fascinating historical background.
